Ecological walk at Lake Garda
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 15, from 9.00 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Malcesine for the 360 Path Cleanup, the ecological walk signed by 360gardalife.
Every year, we clean one of the paths published on this site or its access, and in the afternoon, we practice yoga together to thank you for your commitment to keeping the paths of Lake Garda clean every day, all year round.
The programme
- 9.00 AM: Meeting
- 9.30 AM-12.30 PM.: Ecological walk
- 1 PM-2.30 PM: Lunch for volunteers
- 2.30 PM-3.30 PM: Yoga
Why do we do it: can a small daily gesture make a difference?
I will respond with a simple yet powerful example from a dear friend, Ana Paula, who, in a practical way, helped me realise that every gesture counts.
If, for example, I used solid shampoo instead of bottled shampoo, there would be about 12 fewer plastic bottles in a year. Given the crisis we are going through, this is depressing/inspiring.
But if the 1,642 households in my municipality did the same, that would be about 1,642 households x 12 bottles/year, or 19,704 fewer bottles/year.
If the 394,836 households in my province did this, there would be 4,738,032 fewer bottles.
If the 25,851,122 households in my country did it, there would be 310,213,464 fewer bottles every year in Italy alone.
And if you think about it, it can apply to everything. For a cigarette butt, you pick it up off the ground; for some disposable plastic, you refuse to buy; for a kilometre, you walk instead of driving.
Just as the ocean is made of drops, humanity is made of people. And you are one of them.
Next time you think it’s too late and there’s nothing you can do, do this simple thing: Decide what you want to stop doing and go from there.
See you on 15 September.
