An easy 17 km long track completely on tarmac and suitable for everyone.
It starts pedaling on continued ups and downs over the hills while the return is along the beach.
You can stretch or shorten it depending on your mood and training status.

A ring route which can be done in either direction and can be made longer or shorter depending on what you want to do and your fitness. In this description, we leave from Malcesine but it is a beautiful route to do leaving from Brenzone too.

Points of interest along this bike trail

You will see lots of villages of Brenzone sul Garda.
This tour is very easy and I can suggest it if you need a relaxing trip in great outdoors.
Take your time and enjoy every corner and view. On the way back you can have a break in one of the many bars and restaurants along the beach.

Tour description

It starts from Malcesine’s center, at the roundabout and goes down to Via Garibaldi pedaling south direction to the lake front. Follow it until the end and face the ascent that leads to Val di Sogno. Once you reach the Via Gardesana head right down to the nice bay of Val di Sogno and keep going south to Cassone.

After your arrival in Cassone, just next to the parking lot, leave the cycle lane for the Via Gardesana.

Go beyond Aril river, cross the road and take the road ascending on the left. Just next to the curve take the small road on the right and keep on going south.

From here there is a straight way up and down through the villages of Sommavilla, Borago and Castello.

From Castello starts the descent leading to Magugnano, on Via Gardesana.

Head south for some meters along Via Gardesana and turn right, going down to the beach following the road signs for the center.

From here in 8 km toward the north you will be back in Malcesine along the beach and cycle lane, passing through the villages of Porto, Assenza, Cassone and Val di Sogno.

Variant

Shorter variation

Starting and ending in Sommavilla will shorten the tour of 10 km.

Longer variation

If you are trained, what about making it longer by adding the tour of Via Panoramica of Malcesine?
You will deal with 5km uphill and the same amount downhill, starting and ending in Malcesine.
You can take it right next to the church, south direction, or going up Via Navene Vecchia (cable car road), north direction; it starts on the right just next to the Hotel Majestic.
Follow the road signs for Passo Campiano or San Michele.

Very easy variation

The cycle lane starts in Navene, 6km north from Malcesine, and ends in Castelletto di Brenzone, 10km south from Malcesine. If you do not fancy any climb keep on pedaling on the cycle lane along the beach. These are 16 flat km at your disposal, double it, if you plan to come back.

Our suggestions

  • During high season both cycle lane and beaches are very crowded so, pedaling along Via Gardesana could be recommended. It is the main road and it is parallel to the beach. Pay attention to traffic jams.
  • Spend a minute to visit the small harbour of Magugnano, Porto and Assenza.
  • During summer a dive in the lake is highly recommended!

The tour during the winter

This bike route can be done during the winter.
