A 12km long medium difficulty run
Ariella Bickhove
Nordic walking, trekking and via ferrata
This running route is about 12 km long and goes along the beaches around Malcesine and over the lower hills that surround Malcesine.
It goes over long flat areas with some short ascents and easy descents. This trail is 90% on tarmac tracks and is suitable for everyone with a basic training.A nice alternative for medium trained runners who like to run not just on the cycle lane along the lake.

Tour description
Leaving from central Malcesine, you head south along the Lungolago going towards the tranquil and beautiful Val di Sogno.
Around the half bay in Val di Sogno, just before La Voglia restaurant, a small cut on the left appears to join you with Gardesana road. Cross it and keep on running uphill over tarmac roads and when the road turns left and flattens out, take the small road on the right instead, which continues uphill. From Val di Sogno it is about 1km long and leads you to Dos del Pis.
From here you get to the Panoramica road and here you head off downhill to the left towards Malcesine, cross it and, at the small roundabout at the northern town entrance, rise up left to Via Navene Vecchia.
Straight after the Cable car station, turn left in località Sottodossi and go through some olive groves on a rough track.
Go on for a few metres on the rough uphill and after a short flight of steps turn right which brings you out onto a small pedestrian track which winds gently down through more olive groves heading north.
You will arrive in the hamlet of Campagnola within 1.5km and from here get onto the cycle path that runs along the lakeside, in a southern direction. After 3km you will have returned to your starting point in Malcesine.
Variant
You can easily do this walk in the other direction.
Our suggestions
- Once at Dos del Pis, as you are about to cross the mountain saddle, turn your gaze towards the south and, after a short while, carrying on along the track you will find the whole of Malcesine before you, Monte Baldo and the north end of Lake Garda – views not to be missed
- To shorten it, once you come out from the dirt trail of Località Sottodossi, you can head left instead of going right.
You will find yourself running along a cycling lane 1.5km north from Malcesine
