Points of interest along this hiking trail

Panoramic views, roadside shrines and mule tracks make this kind of tour enjoyable and varied: ascents alternate with descents on different type of ground.

Tour description

The track starts from the bus station in Malcesine. Walk to the North and take Via Monti: it’s the first street on the right just beyond the roundabout. Keep going straight on and, when you get to the junction, leave via Monti and take the steep street that you see right in front of you with road signs to Paier. A few meters further on, you’ll come to a path on the left, passing across an olive grove. There starts a nice mule track leading you to località Paier in no more than 15 minutes.

Keep going up, on a paved road leading you to the Via Panoramica. Turn left, to the North and take the first street on the right which changes from path to mule track and goes up right below the cableway middle station.

Once you’ve reached the paved road keep going up on the left and, when you get to the junction on the way to the cable car station, keep to the left. At the end of this steep paved ascent, turn left following the road signs to Faigo.

There starts a mostly flat path to Faigo (or Faigolo). When you’ll come to the clearing, keep going straight on following road signs on the left to reach Malcesine.

The descent starts on path n. 4 which presents a rough and uneven road surface. Keep to the left when you get to the junction to Monte Fubia-Navene and go down until you arrive to the Via Panoramica.

Turn right and go straight on to get to Campo, where the Via Panoramica ends. Turn left along via Navene Vecchia, you’ll come to Malcesine in no more than 15 minutes.

To shorten the last section, from the Via Panoramica to Campo

Do not go down following the via Panoramica and go up on the left instead, cross the street and then take the little paved road going downhill. When you reach the junction walk on the left, then right and keep going down along Vacco mule track to get to the Cervo Restaurant in Via Navene Vecchia. Turn left to arrive in Malcesine.
