A freeride track from Monte Baldo down to Malcesine, 11km over a drop of 1700m!

Leaving from Tratto Spino, come downhill on path no. 11 and get onto the new forest track until you get to Piombi.
From here, downhill on the tarmac road for Prai until Faigo and lastly Malcesine going past Vacco.

The first part, from the woods to the benches, is fairly rough and stony, very technical and suitable for expert riders.
The second part has terrain and inclines suited to most mountain bikers.

On this track there are many different types of terrain: hard based and rocky, loose stones, woodland tracks, tarmac and mule paths.

Points of interest along this bike trail

In the first part of this trail you will have nice views over Lake Garda.

Tour description

Leaving from the top of the cable car, Tratto Spino, drop down to your right and take the first path on your right (number 11) which goes past the cable car pylons.

The first part is a hard based track, rocky and well worn until you get to the woods. Here the path is still rocky but with fairly loose stones.
At the first clearing, you will find some benches and from here there is a choice of three paths – you should carry on on the left hand path which goes into the wood.
The top of this path is very narrow and submerged in the woods.

At the next fork in the road, just after the cable car pylons, go straight on and, at the second fork where there is a firebreak which will take you to Piombi. Keep right and carry on downhill on the forest track.
The forest path is on loose stones and there are a few parts where you will have to pedal.

Stay on this track until you get to the tarmac road of Prai which will take you to San Michele.
From here follow signs for Faigo and you will meet a dirt track which brings you first to a group of houses and then to a wide pasture.

Take the path on the left which goes downhill through the woods which rambles down to Fubia.

From here you have a well beaten path with many corners to speed down until you get to the Strada Panoramica.
In front of you, you will find the last short cut on a mule track which will bring you down to Malcesine.

At the first clearing, you will find some benches and from here there go down straight until you reach the Prai tarmac mule track. This is an easier variant.

Our suggestions

  • You should use a full suspension bike.
  • Don’t take the firebreak to Piombi. Keep right and carry on downhill on the forest track. In the Integrated Lastoni Selva Pezzi Nature Reserve you are not allowed to ride.
