Points of interest along this hiking trail
You will enjoy many beautiful views along the way. On this trek, before you start to head back down the hill, you will find steps that take you to the Madonna dell’Accoglienza (the Welcoming Madonna) on her terrace overlooking the Lake, where you can enjoy a breather!
You leave from Malcesine on the Navene Vecchia road and go straight up to the end of the hill. Turning right you carry on climbing uphill, first on a tarmac road and then on a mule track, always taking the right side. At the parish boundary marker you turn right again and in a couple of minutes you will find yourself on the Panoramica road and the most difficult part of your walk is already finished!
Heading off south and staying on the Panoramica road for a few metres, just before the next incline you turn downhill to your right and keep straight on until you find yourself in the Paier hamlet. Now you leave the tarmac road for a short path which rises on your left towards la Rocchetta. At the end of this path you will find the steps on your left marked for the Madonna dell’Accoglienza.
Keep on going downhill you will arrive back at the Panoramica road and at the third bend go left and carry on downhill to the next bend where you go left towards Dos del Pis. The path goes slightly uphill and then descends again until you arrive in the Val di Sogno. From here you walk northwards along the Lake path ‘Lungolago’ and will reach Malcesine in about 2 hours.
This walk can be done the other way round.
- The start of the mule track, and the path that leaves from the hairpin bend of the Via Panoramica are shortcuts that allow you to shorten the Via Panoramica itself
- The last part of this route is along the Lake so, in the summer, remember to bring your swimsuit with you
