Lake Garda is the “Mekka” of all water sports enthusiasts!
Mild and mediterranean climate, stunning scenery, delicious food and the uniquely reliable wind conditions contribute to the fact that the lake is one of the most popular destinations for sports holidays.

In 1976, Heinz Stickl, former European champion in sailing and surfing world champion started the first surf school in Italy

Out of the surf school of the early years the Stickl Sports Camp emerged. Today it is the largest surf and sailing school on Lake Garda, the largest VDWS Hobie Cat Center of Europe and since 2001 the first kite surfing school at Lake Garda.

How to reach Stickl Sportcamp

You will find the school in the Bay of Val di Sogno south of Malcesine as a pioneer of the surfing scene. Due to its sheltered position, the bay is the ideal starting point for all courses, such as surf beginners as well as sailors and catamaran sailors.

We have returned for the second year and again had a fantastic experience. We enjoyed sailing both catamarans (two hulls) and Dias (one hull). The system of displaying course times each morning at 8.30am does mean an early start but it guarantees the best possible wind for your level each day: worth a great deal when compared to other resorts where we have sailed.

I learned a lot. Best Sailing Equipment in Europe (Maybe outside Europe as well – know 30 countries outside Europe and 30 within and there was Nothing better). Good teachers. Sometimes it is a challenge, but you learn a lot. And there is fun definatly! Many different boots. Beginners go not out with the strong wind, experienced ones will use the good wind (might be a challenge to coordinate activities for a familiy, so it is a good idea to stay close to the camp.) There is something new always. Like it to come back!

We rented two body boards for stand up paddling. The boards were very good, as was the service at the reception. But the crew down on the lake were less eager to help. We were left standing around quite a bit, not really knowing where to get the boards from/how to return them or who to ask. We had never done stand up paddling before and got very little guidance.

But the rental was fairly good value – £15 each for an hour, and we probably took an hour and a half really.
