The scent of homemade mountain cuisine, in the heart of Monte Baldo
At 1430 metres, overlooking the Bès Corna Piana nature reserve, Rifugio Baita Fos-ce is a small mountain hut with a big heart. Recovered by the SAT of Brentonico from an old abandoned malga, today it’s a must-stop for those visiting Monte Baldo looking for peace, warmth and good food.
A simple, well-kept refuge, open all year round
Inside, a cosy room with large wooden tables and a warm, family atmosphere. Outside, tables under gazebos and a lawn that invites you to slow down, soak up the sun or get lost in your thoughts. There’s also a room with six beds for those who want to stay overnight – better to book, both for the night and for lunch or dinner. Here, you’ll find that simple, genuine care that makes you feel at home.
Since 2022, Rifugio Baita Fos-ce has been run by René and Ingrid, two siblings who grew up with the mountains in their hearts. From June to the end of September they’re open every day; the rest of the year, every weekend, even when it rains.
Traditional mountain cuisine, handmade
René locks himself in the kitchen and doesn’t come out, while Ingrid welcomes you and takes care of the service. Lately, their tireless parents have also joined the team – dogs included: now the family is complete and the atmosphere truly feels like home.
Every weekend they prepare fresh dishes with local ingredients and many homemade items, from bread to tagliatelle. Canederli, rabbit, pork shank, sliced beef… the menu often changes, but always stays true to tradition. And the cakes? Definitely worth a try, even just for a sweet break.

There are also vegetarian dishes, prepared with the same care and attention to ingredients.
For up-to-date info on the weekend menu, events or news, check out their Facebook page – that’s where you’ll find everything happening at the rifugio, season after season.
On foot and by bike
Rifugio Baita Fos-ce is located at the foot of the southern side of Monte Altissimo di Nago. It’s a starting point, destination or stopover for hikes and bike rides – not just a place to reach by car.

You can get to the rifugio on foot from Bocca di Navene, Rifugio Graziani or San Valentino di Brentonico, via the Provincial Road 3, the road to Malga Bès, or trails CAI 653, 654 or 650 – including the scenic equipped trail “Senter delle Vipere”.
By bike, you’ll pass near the rifugio on the Red Tour, which descends from the Monte Baldo cable car in Malcesine down to the lake, or during a ride exploring the eastern side of Monte Baldo.
