Points of interest along this hiking trail

Do it if you need to take a break for a few hours, walking in relaxing and fascinating places. There are many different hamlets and all of them are beautiful and typical!
Of course, you can also enjoy many spectacular views all along the way.

Tour description

Go southward from the parking lot in Sommavilla and, after a few meters, before the descent starts, turn left in Via Monteccio. Take the mule track on the left passing under the vault with road signs to path 31. Keep walking on path 31, which is partly on mule track and partly on white road until you reach Zignago at the first hairpin turn in Punta Veleno.

Come down on the right to Castello and, once you get to the main road, keep going on the left and take the uphill street left of the church.

When the ascent is over, immediately before the parking lot on the left, take the little alley on the right with the cobblestones road.
After a very short descend, follow the path in the field and, at the first junction keep going on the left, walk past the little church and, at the second junction keep going on the left to Cà Romana.

There you find a paved road with the ascent leading you to Campo di Brenzone. Once the ascent is over turn right and keep going upward first on a dirt road, then on mule track to reach Campo.

The ascent is over, while the descent to the lake in Castelletto di Brenzone begins.

Take the path on the left of the fountain in Campo, at the junction turn left following road signs to Biaza/Castelletto until you get to the paved road leading you to San Zeno di Montagna and Prada.

Keep going downhill to Biaza and, at the junction, just in front of the roadside shrine, turn right downhill and keep going straight to Castelletto di Brenzone old town center.

Once you get to the main road “Via Gardesana”, cross the street and keep going northward, walking along the beach and passing through Marniga, Magugnano, Porto and Assenza.

At the roundabout in Assenza take the first uphill street on your right to Sommavilla.

Variant

This itinerary can also be done conversely.
If a 13 km long route is too much for you, you can go down to the beach and then back to Castello, Boccino, Cà Romana and Campo.

Our suggestions

  • Stop and visit any of the little hamlet you find as you go.
  • There are two nice free offer little bars in Campo, the most renowned hamlet.
  • Wear your swimsuit if you are coming during the summer, as you’ll walk along the beach while coming back. We always stop and have a drink or something to eat along the beach before driving home.
  • The only challenging ascent is the one from Cà Romana to Campo. But don’t worry, it is very short.
  • If you don’t feel like coming back walking along the beach you can catch the bus to go back to Sommavilla.

The tour during the winter

This itinerary is always accessible due to low altitude.

Shelters, huts or bivouacs along the trail

There aren’t any refuges or bivouacs.
There’s a fountain for water provision in Campo di Brenzone.
